His forefathers hailed in Nandi, which is located in the Kozhikode district near Koyilandi. Faris was born in Koyilandi to parents Mundail Abu Bakar and Mariakarat Sophia and received his early education at Poilkayil Government High School. He later finished his studies at Kozhikode’s Farooq College.

He is now associated with six businesses. Faris worked as a contributor to the Deepika newspaper before taking over as proprietor. In Kerala, he owned “Deepika” and another daily newspaper.
