In a significant development, the Kerala High Court has directed notices to be issued to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter, T Veena, in response to allegations of corruption. The court’s decision came in light of a petition filed by Congress legislator Mathew Kuzhalnadan, who accused them of involvement in corrupt activities.
The case, which has been gaining attention, revolves around allegations that Veena Vijayan’s IT firm, Exalogic Solutions, received monthly payments from Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) in exchange for facilitating mining sanctions. This accusation has prompted multiple agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), and Income Tax Department, to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Mathew Kuzhalnadan, speaking to the media, emphasized that the legal process is underway, stating, “This is a standard procedure, and we are prepared for detailed hearings in due course.”
The Kerala High Court’s decision to issue notices follows an earlier plea by Kuzhalnadan after a vigilance court initially rejected his request for a court-monitored investigation into the alleged corruption involving the Chief Minister and his daughter. This move underscores the escalating legal battle surrounding the allegations, which have sparked political debate and public scrutiny.
