Kerala’s Health Minister, Veena George, addressed a serious health issue on Tuesday as approximately 300 residents of DLF New Town Heights Flats in Kakkanad, Kochi, reported cases of diarrhoea and vomiting, suspected to be due to contaminated water.

The Minister assured that strict action would follow under the Public Health Protection Act in response to this alarming situation. Prompt action was initiated after a resident alerted authorities via the government helpline, leading to immediate intervention by the health department.

A specialized team was dispatched to the area to investigate and ensure all sources of drinking water within the flats are thoroughly examined. Minister George emphasized the importance of using boiled water for drinking purposes amid ongoing investigations into the cause of the contamination, which may have gone unnoticed due to affected individuals seeking treatment at various hospitals.
