Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath in the presence of top leaders and dignitaries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Vice Presidents Jagdeep Dhankhar and M. Venkaiah Naidu, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several chief ministers attended the ceremony.
Election Results
Radhakrishnan, the NDA nominee, won the election with 452 votes, defeating Opposition candidate B. Sudershan Reddy, who secured 300. Out of 781 MPs, 767 cast their votes with a high 98.2% turnout.
Interestingly, Radhakrishnan received 14 votes more than expected, hinting at cross-voting from the Opposition.
PM Modi’s Reaction
Prime Minister Modi congratulated Radhakrishnan on his victory. He said the Vice President’s life has been dedicated to serving society and empowering the poor, expressing confidence that he will uphold constitutional values and enrich parliamentary discourse.
Background
The election followed the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar in July, who stepped down over reported differences with the Centre.
The Vice President of India is elected by an Electoral College of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members and serves a five-year term.
