Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch has started examining 13 complaints against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil for allegedly abusing women. Different political outfits and individuals filed the complaints at police stations across Kerala.

Victims May Take Legal Route

The Crime Branch will reach out to victims who shared their experiences on social media. If the victims decide to file cases, officers will record their statements and register separate FIRs.

Special Team to Collect Digital Evidence

DySP C Binu Kumar is leading the investigation. He plans to form a special team with cyber forensic experts to recover digital proof, as electronic gadgets and mobile phones were allegedly used in the crimes.

Case Background

Police registered a case earlier against Rahul Mamkootathil for stalking women online and threatening a woman to end her pregnancy. The Crime Branch took over the investigation on Wednesday.
