Thiruvananthapuram: Palakkad MLA and Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil is under strong pressure to resign. Party leaders want him to step down after serious allegations.

Actress Rini Ann George said a youth political leader invited her to a hotel and sent obscene messages. She did not name anyone, but Rahul’s name spread within the party. Later, a woman writer also made charges, which increased the demand for his resignation.

Youth Congress leader reacts

Youth Congress general secretary R.V. Sneha said in an audio clip:
“The Youth Congress has many young women. Allegations against the state president cannot be ignored. If he is innocent, the party must protect him. If guilty, he must step aside for investigation.”

Sneha also said Rahul should file a case if the allegations are false.

Party moves forward

More leaders spoke against Rahul. The Congress leadership is under pressure to act. Complaints reached the national leadership. Sources said Rahul may be told to step aside until the probe ends. His resignation looks likely.
