As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, Kerala has significantly increased security measures around key installations, ensuring heightened protection for vital infrastructure. The state has fortified its airports, seaports, railway stations, and military bases to safeguard national security.
Security around major sites such as the recently commissioned Vizhinjam international seaport, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram’s naval and air bases, the LNG terminal, and the shipyard in Kochi have all been reinforced. Authorities are also on high alert at the railway stations and other important locations throughout the state.
A source within the Vizhinjam seaport revealed that, due to the current security situation, all visits to the port—whether for personal or business purposes—are temporarily suspended. The seaport, located just 10 nautical miles from the international shipping lanes, has received special attention, with its security measures further intensified.
This strategic decision comes as part of a broader effort to secure Kerala’s critical infrastructure and mitigate any potential threats arising from the growing tensions between the neighboring nations. The enhanced security presence serves as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the state’s economic assets and maintain stability in this volatile period.
