Kerala CM Urges Unity Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan addresses citizens in Kannur, urging national unity amid India-Pakistan tensions.

In the wake of growing hostilities along India’s western borders, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan issued a strong appeal for national solidarity, urging citizens to stand firmly behind the country’s armed forces as tensions with Pakistan continue to escalate.

Addressing a public gathering in Kannur during the Ente Keralam outreach program, Vijayan said, “India has always advocated peaceful relations with its neighbors, but recent provocations by Pakistan leave us with no choice but to respond decisively. In such times, it is crucial for every Indian to unite in the interest of national security.”

Kerala’s Strategic Readiness Under Review

The Chief Minister also announced that the state cabinet will convene an emergency session to discuss Kerala’s potential contributions to national defense efforts. The government aims to explore logistics, healthcare support, and resource mobilization strategies should the conflict expand.

Sources within the state administration indicate that discussions will likely include civil defense training, enhanced coordination with central agencies, and provisions for handling any refugee movement or emergency medical response.

Nationwide Civil Preparedness on High Alert

Vijayan’s remarks come just days after the Indian government launched Operation Abhyaas, a countrywide civil defense preparedness drill covering 244 districts. In Kerala, all 14 districts participated in simulation exercises that included blackout drills, evacuation protocols, and public safety awareness campaigns.

The Union Government also authorized the Army to mobilize the Territorial Army units for support duties, a move that underscores the gravity of the situation.

A Call Beyond Politics

In a rare moment of political consensus, Vijayan emphasized that national defense must transcend political lines. “Regardless of ideology or region, this is a time when India must speak in one voice,” he said.

The Chief Minister also encouraged citizens to remain calm but vigilant, to report any suspicious activity, and to avoid spreading misinformation on social media.

Public Response and Future Plans

The public response to Vijayan’s message has been largely supportive, with many across Kerala sharing calls for unity and resilience. The upcoming cabinet session is expected to produce a detailed roadmap for Kerala’s role in national defense coordination.

As border tensions continue, Kerala is positioning itself as a responsible and proactive state committed to the country’s collective security efforts.
