South superstar Vijay’s latest film, GOAT, has been performing admirably at the box office. Released on September 5, the film saw strong numbers during its opening weekend. However, the film experienced a slight dip in earnings on the first Monday after its release.
On Tuesday, GOAT earned ₹10.5 crore, according to Sacnilk, bringing its total box office collection to ₹162.25 crore. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the movie stars Vijay in a dual role, alongside Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ajmal Ameer, Prabhu Deva, Jayaram, and Prashanth. The film follows a retired elite agent who returns to complete a mission and deal with the repercussions of his past actions.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh commented on GOAT‘s performance, noting the slight dip in earnings. He mentioned on X (formerly Twitter), “After a decent opening weekend, #GOAT dips on Monday. Maintaining Monday’s levels through the weekdays is crucial for continued success.”
Adarsh provided a breakdown of the film’s earnings in the first week: “Thu 2.80 cr, Fri 1.90 cr, Sat 3.10 cr, Sun 3.41 cr, Mon 1.35 cr. Total: ₹12.56 cr. Nett BOC. Note: Includes #Hindi, #Tamil, and #Telugu versions.”
In GOAT, Vijay plays both a father and his son, utilizing de-aging technology to portray the characters. Director Venkat Prabhu highlighted this as a novel approach in an interview with NDTV, noting that this technology was used for the first time in this film to create a distinct experience for the audience. He compared it to similar technology used in Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan, emphasizing the unique aspect of their portrayal.
GOAT is produced by AGS Entertainment and continues to captivate audiences with its innovative approach and engaging story.
